Pure Organic Argan Oil Uses And Benefits
With a wide variety of different hair and skin care products available in the market today, choosing the right one can be an uphill task. When visiting a local drugstore or a supermarket, one is greeted with a range of products at the store. When really makes the task of selecting the right products more confusing is the fact that all the products arranged on the shelves promise to work wonders and produce miracles. To find the right product, I would suggest that you experiment and try the product yourself. The numerous argan oil benefits have never failed to impress me and for this reason, this oil has always been on my favourite product for quite some time now.
Often referred to as “liquid gold”, argan oil is a natural product that is extracted from kernels of the argan tree. Due to its high nutrient content, anti- oxidants, fatty acids, and vitamin E, argan oil is a great natural product that can be used to keep your skin and hair healthy. This non- greasy oil is a natural moisturiser that can help combat dry skin. When I used the oil on my dry elbows and knees, it not left my skin feeling less irritated, but also feeling soft and beautiful. While applying the oil on the skin helps keep your skin soft and smooth, using it as a natural hair care product will help not only help tame your frizzy hair, but also make them soft, silky and shiny. In fact, even those who have naturally soft hair can use the oil to add that extra gloss and shine to their hair. Other argan oil benefits for hair include preventing itchiness and scalp dryness, encouraging healthy hair growth and restoration of dry and damaged hair.
Argan oil also contains anti – ageing properties. When used regularly, it can help with skin conditions such as eczema and acne. Due to the innumerable benefits of argan oil, many celebrities including Kylie Minogue, Angelina Jolie, Taylor swift and Madonna use it to keep their skin and healthy naturally. Argan oil when added in the mascara formula can be highly beneficial in promoting long and lustrous lashes.
Although finding skin care products, hair styling products, shampoos or conditioners in the market that contain argan oil is relatively easy, a problem that most consumers have is its high price. As I have mentioned earlier, argan oil is extracted from the argan tree found in south Morocco. Apart from the scarcity of the trees, the laborious process of extracting the oil constitute to its high price of the oil. To extract oil, the traditional method involved collecting the argan fruit, drying it, extracting the nuts and cracking them to remove the kernels and then finally crushing them to extract oil. This process when done manually not only requires nearly fifteen hours of labor, but also produces just one liter of oil after using thirty-two kilograms of fruit. However, good news is that just a little bit of oil is required to be used to achieve the innumerable argan oil benefits.
Today, the market is flooded with various products that contain argan oil. However, on examining the label it is found that other ingredients (silicon) are found in the product in larger quantities than actual argan oil. To attain the maximum benefits of argan oil, it is essential that cosmetic companies ensure that the argan oil found in the product is sustainable and of high quality and not contaminated by other oils and substances.
So what factors should you consider when buying a product that contains argan oil? First and foremost, check the ingredients. Apart from having lesser ingredients, an argan oil product should have a high percentage of the ingredient called ‘argania spinosa kernel oil’. Always remember, the more the ingredients the product has, the less effective the oil will be in the product. Similarly, if you are planning to buy pure argan oil, ensure it is packed in a dark colored bottle. When the oil in stored in a clear bottle, light passing it through can cause the chemical properties of the oil to break down, making it less effective. Additionally, some products sold in the market as argan oil often contain carrier oil such as sunflower oil or olive oil. It is therefore recommended that you be aware of the price you are paying for the oil.
It does cost a fortune to buy argan oil. However, taking in account the numerous argan oil benefits, the scarcity of the argan trees and the amount of intensive labor required to produce the oil, the oil cannot be sold at a ‘giveaway’ price. Remember, buying the best argan oil product is not always expensive. It only means you are buying a product that is worth every penny.
